December 5, 2004 - Sunday - AM Flight & Pack-up for
shipment back home
On the fifth and last day of Leon we flew our
driver/crewperson and another sponsor. Back in the Leon "Box" we made a wide and
high circuit and came back to the launch field for a beautiful stand-up landing,
less then 50 yards from where we took off. Our sponsors' president was in
his kayak in the reservoir and we almost flew right over him. After we landed he
dragged his kayak up on the launch field to our balloon, still inflated, and
opened a bottle of champagne for all of us to celibate with. A most memorable
ending to a wonderful and hospitable balloon festival. After more pictures,
socializing with our sponsor, crew and their families it was time to deflate the
balloon and pack it up for shipment back to the US. I hope we will be inflating
here again next year with our new friends, our gracious sponsor COFOCE and the
people of Leon.

Our crewmember & COFOCE sponsor representative, Heriberto, presented Bruce and I with a bottle of Tequila distilled in 1921. We haven’t opened it yet, but when we do we will be sharing it with balloon friends, in the spirit it was give to us, and telling the story for our balloon friends in Leon, Mexico.
Thank you COFOCE |

Our balloon, on the right, ready for shipment back to the US. Everything you need for ballooning is in that basket, except a chase vehicle. |
